Caregiving and Sleep
Sometimes it seems like caregiving and sleep just don’t go together.
When you’re caring for another person, it can feel like there’s not enough time in any 24-hour period to get it all done, much less get any decent amount of sleep. And once you do lie down and try, your brain may be so filled with lists of things you still need to do, it can be tough to relax and let go.
Whether it’s a sick child, a spouse with an illness or injury, or an aging or injured parent, we tend to put their needs before our own. That is not always the smart road, but it’s one many of us willingly travel for our loved ones.
Our family is traveling the road of an injured and very painful older parent. While she’s getting better, slowly but surely, it’s been a challenge to fit everything in.
Since we’re obviously sleep advocates and huge fans of sleep, we’ve been trying to get at least enough to keep from hitting total exhaustion. That means some things have had to be a little less than perfect at times.
Like this blog post! So if you’ll indulge us in a short, quick post this month, we’d like to offer a very nice relaxation audio to try if you’re going through something similar, along with a reminder of a couple of our past articles and blog posts. We hope it’s all helpful!
